Scope and content

Mary Gate, Nottingham - Hopes WW does not mind him requesting some help regarding his plan of studying history. He read with great interest WW's 'Philosophy of the Inductive Sciences' [1840]. Has not been able to fathom what WW's 'idea of a consistent connection between the sciences of thought[,] language and general history should be '. Gives WW a list of the sciences he wants to include in his work. Has not been able to find a contemporary treatise which classifies knowledge his way. Asks WW questions such as how the Palaetiological sciences should be classed and where the nature of historical evidence should be discussed?
