1 volume (33 x 22 cm), containing 14 leaves. A large proportion of the original contents of the volume has been removed, leaving a number of stubs and mutilated leaves, with drawings, documents, and a fragment of silk cloth pasted to them. The surviving contents are foliated 1–11, of which the last is loose. Folios 12 and 13 are two sketches pinned to the same guard; folio 14 is a drawing pasted to another. Half-bound, the boards being covered with decorated paper.

The contents of this volume were collected by Richard Burton for his Personal Narrative of a Pilgrimage to Al-Medinah and Meccah, published in three volumes in 1855 and 1856. ‘Richard F. Burton | Lt. Bombay Army’ is written inside the front cover. The armorial bookplate of Robert, Earl of Crewe, is pasted on the recto of the front free endpaper.
