Lea Rectory, Gainsborough. - With information from his parish registers about John Smith (one of his predecessors as rector); a paper register is missing which should cover the entry for Robert Smith's baptism.
St. Cloud, nr Worcester. - Is waiting to hear from the present Rector of Lea and Gate Burton as to what can be traced there [about the previous Rector John Smith and his son Robert]; fears it will only be a repetition of that supplied by Dr [Joseph?] Edleston.
Will be glad to find his suggestion 'as to Dr Thomas Smith of 1710-12' confirmed, but has not found which college 'Clement Smith (alias Nevill) was a member'.
St. Cloud, nr Worcester. - Has been advised by his friend Dr Howard [Joseph Jackson Howard], Maltravers Herald, to ask Wright for further information regarding Dr Robert Smith. Letters convey information discovered by Smith Carington on Robert Smith and his father John.
Also discussed are Thomas Smith of Holt; 'Clement Smith, alias Nevill, a younger brother of this Thomas' [Senior Bursar of Trinity?]; Dr Thomas Smith, Vice-Master of Trinity; 'Barnabas Smith, Rector of Witham, who married Sir Isaac Newton's Mother'; Elzimar Smith, and Canon Sebastian Smith.
Ashby Folville Manor, Melton Mowbray. - Regrets his notes on Dr Robert Smith were not 'fuller and better', but Aldis Wright and Mr Courtney are welcome to use them; hopes more genealogical material may be discovered.
