Biographical history

Jane Emily Monk was born c1814, the daughter of J H Monk and his wife Jane née Hughes and died, unmarried in 1907. While her widowed mother was alive, she spent half the year in London and half in Rome, and after her death became a great traveller, though based herself in London, where she was a great supporter of the church of St James the less, where she and her sisters built a school [See G1-10].
