Notice biographique
Catherine Johnson M.A., A.R.C.M. was born in Reading on 26th Aug 1895 to the Reverend Henry Barham Johnson M.A. (1848-1917) and Catherine Bodham Donne (1862-1967). She began to study the harp when she was 8, and by June 1910 (age 14) she won a musical scholarship to the Royal College of Music. At the age of 19 she went to St Hilda's, Oxford. She taught English at St Mary's School, Wantage (1917) and Lincoln Technical College (1919-1928), and music at Salford Secondary School (1928-1930) and Norwich Technical College (1930-1966). She called herself Mary Barham Johnson, although she was not baptised with the "Barham" in her name.
Histoire archivistique
This large collection appears to have been formed over a number of years by members of the Johnson family, the last of whom was Mrs C. M. Johnson, who is mainly responsible for its present arrangement. The collection arrived at Trinity on 25 June 2015 in twenty-eight containers—twenty-three cardboard boxes, four wooden boxes, and a plastic bin—and an inventory of their contents was completed by 3 July.
