Scope and content
Wallington, Cambo, Northumberland. - Annie [Philips] says Elizabeth has not quite decided to decline her invitation [to the Park]; Caroline urges her to go; she could stay the night at Gr[osvenor] Cr[escen]t after her music lesson and go to Manchester next morning. Does not think it is good for Elizabeth to be alone, and both Annie and Caroline really want her to come. Annie 'thought the Mill House very pretty' and Caroline is looking forward very much to seeing it. The elections are 'very sad & depressing'; she and Sir George 'dread opening the papers'. Hopes Charles is doing 'thoroughly well' in Elland.
