Item 26 - Letter from Charles Perry to Christopher Wordsworth

Trinity College. - Enclosing copy of terms arranged between himself and Mr Blakesley which he hopes Wordsworth will approve. Mr Birks has determined not to return to College, and so his assistance with tuition will not be available; Perry and Blakesley wish to wait until Mathison has obtained a Fellowship so that they may propose him for the appointment; 'there is no one at present on the list in whom [Perry] should feel any confidence, and [Mathison] is a young man recommended both by his Mathematical attainments and also by his exemplary conduct and agreeable manner'; hopes that Wordsworth will not object to this course.

One sheet of arrangements, beginning 'The Math[ematica]l Department shall be under Mr Perry, & the Classical under Mr Blakesley...' Concerning lectures, accounts, discipline, communications with prospective students, allowances etc.
