Scope and content

Is going to "The Speaker" this morning ; will look out for Forster's book ["Where Angels Fear to Tread"? which he has always meant to read as soon as it came out. Will see what he can do about reviewing it, though novels by writers who are not well known are not given enough space for anything really interesting to be said. Did enjoy the Green Shutters; will propose himself when he returns form Suffolk. His motto for the day is 'Quanti est sapere'.

An annotation suggests that the letter is 'pre-marriage': '1906' is also written and crossed out.
