Scope and content
5 Sloane Court, London, S.W.3. - Trevelyan is very kind to always remember her 'Christmas card' "From the Shiffolds". 'Particularly enjoyed this year's', since the story of Persephone [told in the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, which Trevelyan translates] was one of her 'very earliest loves', though as a child she was sure the flower Persephone picked was not narcissus but lords and ladies, due to its 'curious look & sinister spotted leaves'; never picked them 'in case the legend might be repeated in Hampshire!'. Is publishing a book herself this year ["River Diary"]; comments on how 'slow publishers are'. She and her husband send best New Year's wishes.
