Scope and content

Is ‘so frightfully upset about the news from Holland [the Venlo incident?]’. Hardly knows whether he should write to her, but thinks she is like him and 'would rather that sympathy and love were expressed’. Understandable that Britain should be at war with Germany and ‘liable to suffering. But that a civilised little country which only desire to lead its own life should be invaded is appalling, and destroys ones last illusions about justice existing on this earth’. The worst [a full invasion] has of course not yet happened, so he still has hope. ‘With renewed love from your always affectionate Morgan’.
