Scope and content

Reform Club, Pall Mall, S.W.1. - Very much enjoyed Boris, and is grateful to Trevelyan for the present [of a ticket to see Mussorgsky's "Boris Gudunov" at the Lyceum, see 3/50]; sends back the libretto. Discusses the performance. Had some pleasant conversations with Cross. Wishes Trevelyan had been at the [Apostles'] dinner, which was 'particularly nice' though Forster had to make a speech. Has decided on subjects for three "Incongruities" [for the "New York Herald Tribune"]: asks for a fourth, as he is desperate.
