      India Office, Whitehall, S.W.
      Dec. 12. 1910.

      Dear Miss Stanley

Thank you very much for your letter. It almost makes me believe that its my fault and not yours that I havent seen you for 654 years!

I should certainly have accepted your invitation to speak for Arthur. I want him back tremendously. But I should have been very little use as I’m very used up. I had to speak at six meetings every night!

      Yrs sincerely
      Edwin S Montagu

[Added at the head:] I’m working hard for Geoffrey.
