      TRANSCRIPT:

      Townhill Park, Bitterne, near Southampton
      April 8. 1912.
(the first day of Home Rule Week)

      My dear Venetia

Thanks so much for your letter, but I liked Littlestone far better than you could have done. You are good to me. I wish I hadnt such a terror {1} of becoming a bore!

I hope you did not think I did not appreciate your kindness in asking me to Penrhos. I longed to come and this weekend has been—help! help!

How long are you stopping. I am looked for next week for Ewelme. And I’d rather learn you were coming to town before the weekend after.

I’d write more if this pen was not quite impossible.

      Yrs ever
      Edwin S. Montagu

What a good time we had at Littlestone.

      God speed Home Rule!
