Scope and content

Thos. Cook & Son, Waiting Room, 16 Des Voeux Road, Hong Kong. - Left Canton [Guangzhou] yesterday, so didn't get the money, but it will be forwarded to Shanghai. Rose may be passing through Hangkow [Hankou, Wuhan] at the same time Trevelyan does, and they might meet at the Consulate. Is hurrying on to try to catch him and travel with him. Hopes to be in Shanghai by Friday night or Saturday morning. Had an interesting time with Yunien [?] who was very friendly; having met a few of the new Chinese ministers in Canton he understood his point of view.
