Their recreation facilities have improved and the captain sometimes gets them free tickets to BBC performances, though 'his taste in entertainment does not rise above "Variety"'. Describes the beautiful appearance of Clifton Gorge this morning. Asks for an ABC timetable. Hopes her wrist is improving. Praises Dickens's Hard Times, which he is reading.
