[Oxford?]—‘This is, I think, a find. [The letter was probably accompanied by a note on Allan Ramsay’s Poems of 1720; cf. RES, iii. 343–6.] It is of course pure bibliography; but without bibliography there can be no editions of Allan Ramsay; and this collection in its two states seems sufficiently rare and curious to deserve a full description.’
