Scope and content

63 Castle Street, Leicester Square. - Has contributed to many periodicals; a favourite duty is to vindicate Milnes' actions whenever 'aspersed by either malice or ignorance'; great regard for Milnes; has quarrelled with proprietors over past indiscretions and is now in severe want; cannot reveal lowly condition to newspaper men without damaging prospects; a loan of £6-£8 would set him up; Mr Michel[l?] of the Morning Post can furnish details of writer's position but must not learn reason for enquiry. Postscript: Thinks better of approaching Morning Post as testimonial will now reveal himself as author of Thoughts on Traits of the Ministerial Policy under the pseudonym 'A very Quiet Looker-on'; sent copies in 1843 which Milnes praised. Riordon refused payment at that time.
