Scope and content
Wallington, Cambo, Morpeth. - Discussion of finances: the effects of the war are 'already more serious' than he expected, and 'will be much more serious very soon, and grow worse and worse in the future'. Will continue to pay Robert and Elizabeth fifty pounds twice year to make up the income tax on their allowance as long as he can, but can promise to do no more; he and Caroline will however 'take special pleasure' in helping if they have any particular 'expense or difficulty', such as the surgeon's fee for Julian's forthcoming operation.
