1 volume (33 x 21 cm), containing 38 leaves. Folios 2–28 are documents in various hands mounted on stubs, of which ff. 4, 5, 7, 8, 14–15, 17, 22–6, and 28 are single sheets, and the rest folded sheets. Folio 1 is a sheet with a cutting pasted to it. Half-bound.

The documents in this volume were sent to General Charles Dugua by Pierre Jean Lévêque, commissary of the Directory in the department of the Calvados, in 1796. On f. 1 is a cutting from a French sale catalogue of the mid-nineteenth century describing the volume. The armorial bookplate of Robert, Earl of Crewe, is pasted inside the volume and his heraldic ‘garb’ is stamped on the front cover.

On the spine is stamped ‘Correspondance de Citoyen Levêque. An. 4.’ See the separate descriptions of the contents. The writing on ff. 2, 4, 13, 16, and 17 is in the same hand. Most of the dates in the manuscripts are reckoned according the French revolutionary calendar.
