The book in which these notes were found was bequeathed to Trinity by Nelthropp in 1901, and is dated 'H. L. N. Octr 26 1881' on the inside cover.

Notes that at the 'Shandon Sale... on Friday May 18th 1877' [the sale of the goods of Robert Napier of West Shandon], Lot 2298 was 'a chronometer in silver case, by J. Harrison, 1770, being the duplicate of one for which the inventor received a rewards of £20,000 from the Board of Longitude...'; record of Harrison's chronometers in the 'Catalogue of Naval Exhib[itio]n 1891 page 380'; detailed quoted description of 'No 3. Instrument bought by Clockmakers Co. The duplicate of No. 1. Made actually by Harrison'.
