Immediate source of acquisition or transfer
Gift of J. P. W. Gaskell, Oct. 1984, with an accrual in Sept. 1986: 'Secret Lives' and associated correspondence, and another after his death of the catalogue of his Library sold to Keio University, with accompanying photographs. A folder of material relating to the Gaskell and Inshaw exhibition was found on the shelves with no provenance information in 2020 and was added to series D in 2022.

The papers relate mostly to his writings, notably A New Introduction to Bibliography and From Writer to Reader, though his shorter writings and bibliography are also represented, as are his photographs, including those exhibited in the Wren Library as part of the "Figures" exhibition with David Inshaw.
