Scope and content

Postmarked Staines. - Asks Trevelyan to forgive another of his 'most finicking suggestions' [for "The Bride of Dionysus"]: helps his "Auffassungsvermögen" [comprehension] to make them, but this does not mean Trevelyan must adopt them. Ariadne could see the Satyrs' goat-foot tracks, and express relief. This would have benefits in terms of staging - giving her a 'good gesture' and supplementing 'the defects which the stage-satyr's leggings will leave in [his] imagination' - as well as for character and music.
