These proofs are loose leaves, or sections of leaves, printed on one side only. They include several short unsigned reviews not included in F. C. Francis’s list of McKerrow’s writings, but their presence here presumably indicates that McKerrow wrote them. The texts of the proofs appear to be identical to the published versions, except for one of the versions of B7/53, in which the text is arranged differently. The reviews described as ‘short notices’ are in smaller type than the longer reviews. Till October 1929 these appeared in the journal under the heading ‘Other Books and Pamphlets Received’; from October 1930 (there were none in the intervening period) the heading was ‘Short Notices’. There are handwritten notes on B7/7 (a note of the number and year of the volume) and B7/8 (a minor correction).
