        Geschiedenis

John Rudd was minister of the Unitarian Chapel in Church Street, Preston, from 1809 to 1812, when the chapel was closed for about two years (Fishwick, p. 168).

During this time he founded the Preston Literary and Philosophical Society, of which he became president.

Tulket (p. 77) records that ‘he was a man of excellent endowments, and gentlemanly address; upon the whole, he was a person of an intuitive genius, and, at one time, was much respected’.

In 1811 he published An Address … May 13, 1811, at the Commencement of a Course of Lectures to the Society on Natural and Experimental Philosophy.
