This list, which contains the correspondents’ names in alphabetical order, and the dates of their letters, is in two parts, each headed ‘Contents | 1820’—the first containing names beginning with the letters from A to K, the second names beginning with the letters from L to W. On the back of the flyleaf at the front of the volume is the following note: ‘The Index in this Volume comprehends all the Letters of the year 1820, &, consequently, not those alone which are bound in the present Volume, but equally those in the following one.’
