Scope and content

Neither TFL or his son could think of any other name connected with painted glass manufacture at Munich than that of Boisseree [Sulpiz Boiserée]. An application to him should be successful: 'the Colour of the Bavarian glass is so superior to any made in England that it [is] quite worth while to incur some trouble and expense in obtaining it'. TFL thanks WW for a copy of his the Isle of Sirens [1840]: 'why is it that the English language surrenders itself so unwillingly to Hexameter verse?'.
