        History

        Gurney Turner, the son of Dawson and Mary Turner, was born on 13 May 1813 and baptised on the 24th (Great Yarmouth Weekly Register Bills, via Ancestry). He became a surgeon in India in the service of the East India Service. On 30 April 1844 he married Mary Anne Hamilton at Calcutta (Ancestry). He died on 20 November 1848, at Puri, Bengal, at the age of thirty-five.
