Scope and content

Writes to express his sympathy with Nora on the death of Henry Sidgwick: as an old pupil, he has been thinking much of what Henry meant to all his pupils. Says their admiration for him was such that it is difficult to know how much of an intellectual guide he was to them, and how much a wise counsellor. Recalls Henry's great kindness to him, and is certain that there are many who have the same feeling at present, i.e., gratefulness for the privilege of having been associated with him. His sympathies and the sympathies of others are with Nora now in her sorrow.
