The First Trinity Boat Club was founded in 1825 and amalgamated with Third Trinity to form the First and Third Trinity Boat Club in 1947. It was originally referred to as Trinity Boat Club, or, following the name of the boat, the Monarch Boat Club.

The materials included in this section date from the early records of the Trinity Boat Club, before it was known as First Trinity Boat Club, up to the amalgamation with Third Trinity Boat Club in 1947 when it formed the First and Third Boat Club. The exception to this is material relating to the May Balls in their entirety, which have been moved to section F, Trinity May Balls. One item in the cuttings in Miscellanea dates from 1949 but concerns the early history of the club.
