Scope and content

Welcombe, Stratford on Avon. - Sorry to have wrongly addressed her letter to Elizabeth; a credit to the P[ost] O[ffice] that it reached her. Elizabeth's cold sounds 'horrid', and like influenza; glad she is now recovering and that she will have time to get well before the 5th. Glad Elizabeth was downstairs for Christmas; hopes the children were very happy, which is a comfort to think of. They are very pleased about George. Postscript at the top of the second sheet explains that she is writing in haste, as the Mordaunts [?] are coming.
