Her husband [William Miller Crowfoot] has little doubt that the ring was given to 'Mr Assey, a friend of Dr Crowfoot's and a medical man who travelled a great deal'; they have a portrait of him by Phillips and think that it was probably a 'miniature of this which Miss Anna Crabbe remembers wearing in a brooch'.
