Scope and content

On headed notepaper for Wallington, but sent from Harrow. - His cold is lingering, though he is 'taking good care of it' and has done nothing this week but 'walk or skate quietly'; thinks he will 'get that medicine made up tomorrow'. Thanks her for the post office order which he got with her letter this morning. Thinks he would at least like to 'read for the Essay'; asks her if she could 'get both the numbers of The XIXth Century, and find some other book or books on the subject', and will write if he 'hears of any good ones'.

Glad Bob's letter was 'satisfactory. He seems to be penitent'. He says he has been 'thinking a great deal about the Prize Exercise', but has not made up his mind how to treat the subject; he thinks he will 'progress rapidly' once he begins. Bobbie's 'torpids have been licked very badly (4-1) second round'. though Charles has heard he 'played very well'. In general is glad 'for his sake' that they are over. Bob 'came out 8th [in his class], moderate. Still better than before'; asks what his report is like.

Adds a postscript saying he thinks there will be absit on Thursday; he himself will not come [home], but Bob may; will ask him today.
