Garricks. - Bessie saw how happy he was at the Shiffolds: would love to return when he will not be a burden. Originally enclosing six coupons [for rations?], Bob's drawers which 'saved [him] from shivering', and Logan's [Pearsall Smith] autobiography. She must be rejoicing over the surrender of the Germans in Holland. Thinks the end is very near. When the next letter from B.B. [Bernard Berenson] arrives, asks to be informed: he can get there in six hours to be 'expert rapid decipherer', which he claims is less time than Bob will take to read the letter. Thought Bob's last three short poems beautiful, but the rock-pool piece might be better as prose for the second edition of "Windfalls", as he first intended. Pencil postscript about the 'two snippets' which the Hampton tradesmen say are worth three points a piece.
