Scope and content

18 Buccleuch Place, Edinburgh. At the Sign of the Edinburgh Review. - This [presumably an invitation to the wedding of Tovey and Clara Wallace, not now present] is very late, but 'so much the better' if the Trevelyans could come. They are going to hear Tovey's symphony at Dresden on January 8th then 'scuttle back' to Edinburgh in time for his work to start on the 12th. Everything is a rush, with the sudden arrival of a 'nice American Professor of Music & the Prize Boy from Amsterdam provided with a tooth-brush a trunkful of books & three words of English in Dutch phonetics'.
