as from 9 Arlington Park Mansions, W.4. - Asks if they can meet next Tuesday: is away till Saturday, and wanted to give the gardener as much time as possible off on Whit Sunday and Monday. Will be nice seeing her guests, but hopes there will soon be chance to see her alone. Sorry she is having 'so much private anxiety [perhaps about the German invasion of the Netherlands and relatives there?]'. Feels he himself 'could bear nothing', but 'I suppose I could'. Adds postscript suggesting Sunday if Tuesday does not work.
