Lago (Forster, E., & Lago, M. (1985). Calendar of the letters of E.M. Forster / compiled by Mary Lago. London: Mansell) tentatively dates this letter to late 1904, when the Trevelyans moved to the Shiffolds, Holmbury St Mary, though it is not likely they were both in Surrey until at least Aug 1905. In a letter of June 1907 Forster is still addressing Trevelyan by his surname; Trevy is used from December 1907, and Bob after March 1909.
