Histoire archivistique
Barber, a clerk at Gurney and Co.’s bank in Yarmouth, who may have lived with Dawson Turner for a while, absconded to America in 1858 with a large amount of money from the bank and the Yarmouth Institute. This is probably why this letter was removed from its volume (O.14.50), together with a letter from Barber’s father William, the whereabouts of which is unknown.
