JCH's Address, if signed, would do much good [see JCH to WW, 1 Apr. 1850]; & I think that, with changes something like those I proposed, it might be signed very numerously and by Clergymen'. JCH 'dined with Cavendish yesterday: he is exceedingly right at heart, though subject in some measure to delusive influences' [see JCH, 'A Letter to the Hon. R. Cavendish, on the recent Judgement of the Court of Appeal in Affirming the Doctrine of the Church', 1850].
