Scope and content

Is sending the first part of his story [not included]; it is a 'great success' and an 'Irish ghost story'. They started [rugby?] football two days ago and he has had two 'very good games' Davenport fell down the 'stoke-hole' last holidays, and 'had concussion of what little brain he had'; he came yesterday. David Copperfield has not arrived; asks if she could send it when she goes to London as he doesn't have another book to read; also asks for 'Lockart's Spanish Ballards [sic]'. Sends love to all his family and hopes they are well. Says they now have porridge about twice a week and 'they are very good'; a footnote adds 'Porridge are plural in decent Scots'.
