      TRANSCRIPT:

      24 Queen Anne’s Gate, S.W.
      Friday Jan 30th 1919

My darling Ted I had a very good journey, there was no cabin for me on board, but it didnt matter as Lord Derby gave me a share of his, & I also travelled up to London with him & Lord Charles, they were most genial.

I arrived rather late and cold and went straight to bed, thus avoiding any of those dangers you had warned me against, in fact I’ve seen no one but Duff and Diana who lunched here today. Crooks is away and untraceable, Scatters is pursuing some dark chase, I’ve not yet heard what, so that London seems very empty. Its icy-ly cold with occasional showers of snow & sleet, I suppose its much the same in Paris. How are you? Is the massage doing you good. I wish now that I hadnt left & was with you still, I shall await your return with much anxiety, and will cer-tainly come out with you in March. I told you that I had seen Aarons and that he said that I had a little thing wrong with me, so I suppose this is the moment to put it right. It may take 4 or 5 weeks I believe. I’m going to see him tomorrow & I will let you know what he says. It will be rather [a] bore but it seems silly to wait.

      I’ll write tomorrow.

      All love darling
      V.
