Postmarked Staines. - The 'symphonic interlude is gradually acquiring a formidable number of functions' [in "The Bride of Dionysus"]: just before the curtain rises it now 'indicates Ariadne's private sense of danger & despair', so he now considers her words beginning 'Sister and comrades' as 'fixed'. Also, at the end of the Labyrinth scene, would like Theseus to say something like 'Ariadne understands me better than you' to the Chorus.
