Facsimile of a letter written by Lieutenant Eliot Trapnell, 11th Battalion, The Rifle Brigade, to his brother Captain Hallam Trapnell describing his experience leading up to, throughout, and after an attack on the German front line on 17th September, part of the Battle of the Somme, 1916. At the back of the volume is an extract from The History of the Twentieth (Light Infantry) Division by Captain V. E. Inglefield, 1921.
