Over one hundred signed envelopes originally enclosing signed election slips for candidates to the Maitland Club of Glasgow. Half of the envelopes present have been cut down and pasted on to pages in an album in roughly alphabetical order. Many of these are addressed to John Smith, secretary. One letter from Hamilton Pyper relating to the election of candidates is included. There are another 47 loose envelopes at the back of the volume, and a printed announcement of an anniversary meeting at Hutchesons' Hospital dated 12 March 1834.
