Archival history
The title-page indicates that this collection was compiled in London in 1743, though it is not stated by whom. It was evidently intended for French readers. The arms of Sir William Stuart (1798-1874) are stamped on the front cover, and the armorial bookplate of Robert, Earl of Crewe, is pasted inside it.

Scope and content
On the spine is stamped ‘Pasguinades Anglaises de 1743 MSS.’ (The spelling ‘Pasguinades’ is probably due to a misreading of the title-page.) The writing on the interspersed leaves is all in the same hand.
The contents may be divided into the following sections (the section headings in inverted commas derive from the table of contents):
Satirical prints (ff. 5-15)
‘Papiers satyriques’ (ff. 16-34)
‘Brochures sur le commerce’ (ff. 35-99)
‘Brochures politiques’ (ff. 110-283)
