Having read Sidgwick's 'Supplement', pronounces it an improvement on his work [on ethics], which had been so popular as to merit a second edition. Refers to Plato and Aristotle as being out-dated and only of historical curiosity. Remarks on Sidgwick being a 'disciple of Butler, and praises his addition in '"The Relation of Ethics to Politics"', as well as his paper on the '"Classics"', [Classics, Essays and Periods], which he recommended to the Scotch University Commissioners. Expresses the hope that the latter will bring about the 'relaxing of the present Arts Curriculum'.
