(There is a label on the spine inscribed in faded letters, 'Scraps'. On the front free endpaper is written, 'W. W. Greg | Park Lodge', and a coloured illustration of a medieval manuscript is pasted inside the front cover. The contents appear to have been written about the same time, probably about the date of the letter formerly inserted in the book (GREG 1/88), which accompanied a copy of the book from which the first extract was taken. This first extract was transcribed from a reprint of 1937 (see p. 1); the latest publication mentioned (see p. 15) is dated 1940.)

Paginated i–viii, 1–120, with an unnumbered flyleaf at the front and another at the back. Pages 1–76 were numbered by Greg; the other page-numbers are archival. Pages 1–120 are printed, or stamped, with the numbers 115–256, but these numbers have been superseded.
