Claims that there is no one whose loss he could have deplored so much, and no one whom he respected so much either as a friend, a writer, or as a member of [Cambridge] University. Remembers with gratitude that Henry was good enough to keep up their acquaintance from their early undergraduate years. Believes that his character has left its mark on more than one generation of students at Cambridge.
