Scope and content

8, Grosvenor Crescent [printed note-paper; the letter is headed 'On the train']. - Is writing on the way to London; asks when Elizabeth is coming up for the day; hopes she will go to the dentist in the morning then come to lunch, they could then go for a drive and she could return after tea. She is on the early train; Sir George, George and Janet are following later. Good to see 'two people so serenely joyful'; very glad both Elizabeth and Robert like Janet, who seems 'a very sweet natured simple soul; and really clever too'. Asks when they want to come to Wallington: Aunt Annie [Philips] is coming on 11 August; George says he cannot until the last week of August and first week of September.
