Scope and content

King's Arms Hotel, Oxford. - Is excited by a new idea about the Satyr dialogue [in Act III of "The Bride of Dionysus"]: replacing the 'explanatory & cautioning intervention of Dionysus' with a wordless ballet in which the Satyrs attempt to prevent the Maenads from meeting Ariadne in her despair, ended by the voice of Dionysus bidding them disperse. Thinks this will take no more time than the passage as it stands at the moment, and be much more engaging. Is in Oxford for a Gaudy; will return to Scott's Hotel tomorrow then go to Glyndebourne on Monday.
