Portée et contenu
Heath Royde, Halifax. - Has been reading Bob's "[The Foolishness of] Solomon" with great 'pleasure, amusement and profit', and likes it best of his works so far; greatly admires its 'power, ease and freedom'. Hopes Molly has not yet read it, as he wants to 'read it aloud again'. Gives him hope that Bob will 'carry through [his] new drama on peace with success'. Sends love to Bessie, and hopes Julian is well again. Has just had a 'very big audience at Halifax, a very courteous reception, enthusiastic at the finish'; was the first public speech he has made there since the war. Expects 'a slating from some of the newspapers', but thinks there is a 'large sane public opinion latent there'.
